5. The last phase is CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION, and it happens on-site where our contractors are building. We’ll come out every week or two for a meeting and to check progress and talk about ideas, look at things that might change or whatever. Construction administration lasts six weeks to a year, depending on the project. In the end, hopefully everyone’s still talking and we’ll throw a party and our clients will move in.

1983–1985: Interned as a carpenter at Cain Park Arts Festival in Cleveland, Ohio, during the summers

1987–1988: Worked various jobs as a carpenter and scene painter, Cleveland, New York, and Boston

summer 1988: Interned at Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, New York

1990–1991: Architectural intern, the Liebman Melting Partnership

1991: Graduated with BFA, Parsons School of Design, New York

1991–1998: Interned for various architectural firms in Seattle

1998: Took summer off to be a professional bike racer

1998–1999: Worked as a project architect, Studio Jaso, Seattle

1999: Founded PLACE Architects, PLLC in Seattle

2008: Relocated PLACE to Vancouver, BC
